The following observations were noted and compiled from the data of over 1000 pools that are using the Anti Bio System (ABS).

From the moment of activating your ABS unit, the preprogrammed frequency will start with a “bombardment” of the calcium molecules in the water releasing more free electrons thereby increasing the number of positive ions (oxidation-ionizing) and their capability in the water. Yet there is no need for alterations to existing pipe work, there will be no water circulation down time, installation or replacement of activators/probes. Several changes will start taking place in the water medium, without the need to make any deviations to the present way of operating your pool, as there is no physical contact with the water.

The benefits of having the ABS in place at your pool are categorized as follows:

Indoor Pools

The direct effect of this constant “bombardment” of calcium molecules will be noticed through a 20-30% increase in the free chlorine reading levels without adding any extra chlorine. It will also be noted on ther Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) reading of your control instrument, if you have one. The increase in the ORP will be in the range of 8-40 millivolts (mV). This will be observed within the first week from the time of installation. After this period the system will settle on this higher reading level without the need for additional chlorine.Note: your mV reading level on the ORP indirectly represents the volume of chlorine “present as oxidant” in your pool water.
For sites where the water balance is maintained in correct order and the Total Alkalinity (TA) is held tightly under control, a change of the pH on the negative side will be experienced. However, the pH will not fall below 7.3 points. Within a day or two the pH will revert to its original starting level or it will settle on the 7.5 mark +/- 0.1. There will also be, on average, a 20-30% saving in the need for acid or CO 2 as a “corrector” in pH control. The need for sodium bicarbonate will be dramatically reduced and the need for calcium as water hardener potentially halved.
For sites where no water balance is maintained and TA is not controlled, the pH will “naturally” be high around 7.95-8.0. With the ABS in place the pH will assume the tendency to rise to about 8.1 points, but within the first week will start falling to levels of 7.7-7.8 and stabilize there. Again, considerable savings in the need for acid, CO 2 and chlorine use will be noticed.
If the ABS was installed and activated just after a backwash, the most “surprising” and remarkable change will be observed during the next backwash (if you have a sight glass in place). The water will be much “dirtier” than previously seen. The reason for this is in the unique property of your ABS. It creates in your filter an artificial coagulation effect, similar to that done by the correct use of polymers or alum (for outdoor pools), thus increasing your filtration efficiency. Very soon you will realize that no need for further coagulators (chemicals) are required. You will also note that after the second backwash has been done with the ABS in place, the time to clean the filters is reduced by approximately 30-60 seconds, producing considerable savings in the water use.These water savings are twofold. Firstly, there is a reduced requirement for fresh water (saving on water bill) also meaning fewer expenses for conditioning (chemicals and energy if you heat the water).Secondly, less water is discharged, resulting in reduced costs as lower quantities of chemicals are extracted from your pool water. If you do only 52 backwashes per year, the estimated (minimum) saving in water costs is around 35%, which is almost the volume of your pool every year!Please note that if your backwash is automated and depends on the pressure differentials, it is possible for the ABS to trigger an “early” backwash in the first month or so.

Outdoor Pools

There are two categories of outdoor pools. Those that are continuously in operation and those that use heating to help them to extend their season.

The pools that are in operation year round will have the same direct effects as the one’s described above for the indoor pools.
The use of alum, which has been used for the coagulation effect within the filters in the plantroom, will be minimized or eliminated.

Outdoor seasonal pools

From our field site experience, close to 70% of the outdoor pools fitted with the ABS did not have the need to empty the pool at the end of the season. Some operators choose to do it because of “tradition” and some because of required maintenance.

The savings on these pools in the time of operation (6mth) are expected to be the same as the example above. But the biggest cost expenditure on these types of pools is really in the restarting of them for the new season. The evidence now exists that seasonal pools equipped with the ABS do not need to be emptied at the end of the swim season. The reason for this is that the ABS unit provides ample electro-chemical movement in the water so the minimal chemical usage, mainly chlorine, effectively protects the pool from the formation of algae.

The time required to close the pool as well as cost savings associated with emptying the pool, are enough to warrant (or offset) the cost of the ABS. Providing that the circulation pump(s) are on for approximately 20 hours during each week of the off line season, we are confident that no pool will need to be emptied.

Cracks, cleaning of the full pool shell, as well as build up of unwanted particles in the filter bed and corrosion in the pump/piping system will be avoided. In the same time, the frustration associated with restarting the pool, as well as unpredictable expenses that are always present on restart, will be eliminated. The estimated time frame on the restart of the pool when the ABS is fitted can be down to less than 20 hours. This is opposed to the industry ‘norm’ of at least a one week start up period of the pool without the ABS in place (there again more cost savings in labour alone)

Hydrotherapy and spas

Almost every site with the ABS in place reported softer and cleaner water. Spas and Hydro pools, because of their higher running temperatures, have very sensitive surface tension of the water. This creates the scum line, which operators wrongly believe is in line with the sensitivities of the chlorine levels. These problems are eliminated with the presence of the ABS, as the unit softens the water for the reason explained above.

We are sure that you will see the same benefits as our other users, who have identified that their bacteriological protection level has increased. Hence the ABS becomes a form of additional protection.

The addition of the Anti Bio System will provide a safer, cleaner and healthier swimming environment for swimmers and the cost achieving this will be greatly reduced.
